Juvenile Hallux Valgas (Juvenile HAV) is a hereditary condition typically seen in young girls and occurs when the bones in the big toe are curved outwards. As a result, a bunion forms at the base of the big toe.
Symptoms of Juvenile HAV include swelling, flat feet, discomfort and difficulty wearing shoes.
If you have noticed these symptoms in your child, come visit our Riverstone or Bankstown clinic for a friendly consultation. Treatment options include shoe modifications or orthotics and surgical measures if non-surgical treatment fails and only when growth in the bones has ceased.
